Murumuru Butter - Wild Harvested & Unrefined

Murumuru (Astrocaryum muru muru) butter is incredibly nourishing and intensely rich in lauric (47.46%), myristic, and oleic acids. The fruit is reddish orange and the center kernel, where the butter is extracted, is off white to yellow when unrefined. The scent is very subtle and has a mellow slightly nutty aroma. The texture is a bit waxy. Murumuru butter is a harder butter, but is wonderful to use in skincare due to its less greasy feel resulting in quicker absorption deep into the skin.

Murumuru butter doesn't easily spoil due to its high density of short-chain, saturated fatty acids. In terms of seed fat content, Murumuru butter compares favorably to both Tucuma and coconut palm. However, Murumuru has a higher melting point of 86-95°F which makes it easier to combine with other vegetable butters of lower melting points, such as Tucuma palm (86-90 ºF) and coconut palm (73 ºF) .

Murumuru butter benefits both the skin and the hair. It is a highly nourishing emollient and moisturizer for hair and helps the skin recover to its natural moisture content and elasticity. Use as a small amount in shampoos (0.5%-1%) and in conditioners, lotions, soaps, and deodorants (0.5%-8%). For items such as whipped body butters, it can be used up to 100%.
